I usually don't rant about this stuff, especially not around a bunch of excited fans (unlike some annoying-ass people), but...I HAVE TO GET IT OUT.



I'm a hugely obsessed House fan (what? no way!). I usually look at all the new promos and every clip that comes out, but I didn't do that for this week's episode, "Joy." I did it last week, for "Lucky 13." Reading the speculation about the House/Cuddy stuff, I just find myself shrugging my shoulders. It's the worst thing that can happen in a story: I just. Don't. Care.

I adored Cuddy early on, shipping House/Cuddy right alongside House/Wilson, and was even into House/Cuddy/Wilson. By the end of S3, I'd fallen out of love with Cuddy. By the end of S4, I liked Cameron and couldn't stand Cuddy, WTF? I'm definitely not excited about the kiss, I'm not even really annoyed, I just hope this story arc doesn't get too annoying before it's over, and then it never comes up again.

I honestly don't understand why anyone likes Cuddy these days, or wants her to hook up with House even for a short time. Argue all you want, but the relationship lacks depth. The depth it does have is a holdover from earlier seasons. House's interest in Cuddy is also very erratic. And Cuddy acts hysterical at the drop of a hat. (Now, that irritates me, because her getting upset this episode could have been touching, but I'm guessing I'll be rolling my eyes at her antics instead.) House steamrolls her, doesn't respect her as a doctor, and his behavior in S4 came off as though he's ceased to respect her as a person - which is so not sexy. She's two dimensional, and has only that much dimension thanks to LE's acting. She's used as a plot device half the time. I know this because it's freakin' impossible to write Cuddy in fic now, because there's nothing there to start with! Just repeatedly insisting she's "complex" and "strong" doesn't make it so! Christ.

And on top of that, Cuddy and House's "thing" (the sniping, the power play) is ruined, so TPTB decide to just take some of House and Wilson's "thing" (stalking on dates, freaking over losing him) and give it to them. Hooray.

And dear sweet baby Jesus, let this be the end of it. Cuddy and House aren't the big will-they-or-won't-they of the show. They had sex before. And now they might again. Whoopie.

Maybe I should be hoping House/Wilson never become canon, since that seems to mean Wilson would have to become an uninteresting, idiotic, inconsistently written character to be House's love interest. (Cuddy was great. Then they starting pushing the love interest angle, and they ruined her. Cameron starting off annoying, got over House, and promptly become more interesting. Sensing a pattern here.)

.....Great. This is making me miss Amber more. She was what Cuddy is supposed to be now.

Okay. I'm done.

EDIT: So the episode wasn't awful, yay. Lisa Edelstein's acting was fabulous, finally she had something worthwhile to do, yay! Cuddy didn't get all unreasonably hysterical, yay. She called House a son of a bitch, yay.

...and then immediately kissed him. *facepalm* So. Not. Sexy.

Again, the House/Cuddy love confuses me? Again, House treated her like crap, like he had no respect for her as a person. And she...gets turned on? I'M NOT INTO ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS IF IT'S NOT ACKNOWLEDGED AS ABUSIVE.

And what Wilson said in the promo better be a misdirect. Ugh. the Wilson/Cuddy shippers will go wild. Now they're confusing! Wilson has a better relationship with House than with Cuddy. At least Wilson gets to be himself with House, House makes him laugh, etc. Cuddy gives Wilson nothing in return for all Wilson gives her. That relationship seriously squicks me.
