Doctor Who S4 Finale

OMFG BEST FINALE EVER. SRSLY.

IT'S GIVING ME PLOT BUNNIES.

AND LOTS OF NEW ICONS TO CELEBRATE. THIS ONE IS NOW MY FAVORITE BECAUSE IT IS TRUTH.

I was patiently watching S4 on the Sci-Fi Channel, but after they didn't play an episode on the 4th of July and I heard how AWESOME the finale is (and that Gwen and Ianto were on!) I had to go and download the last four episodes.

ZOMG. SO GLAD I DIDN'T WAIT.

DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN.

The Doctor - Still an Emo Queen. Kind of wish he just regenerated, because I'm ready for a new Doctor. (And after watching "Midnight," I got the urge to read a crossover where Ten and House meet...) Oh, yes, and I loved his totally confused expression pretty much for the entire finale, like, "WTF? When did all of you get so powerful??"

Donna - Aww, poor Donna. I'm going to miss her. But her talking like the Doctor was creepy. Her determination to get a hug from Jack was freakin' hilarious.

Rose - Count me among those annoyed with S2 Rose, and the Rose/Doctor pairing. And yet I was looking forward to seeing her return all season, because I knew she would be different. Loved her in this - and her "who the hell is she?" reaction to Martha. (That whole scene was priceless.) And giving her a human!Doctor? Would so feel like a cop-out in any other show...but cracked-out shit like that is pretty run-of-the-mill. I think the haters and lovers should be happy with that ending.

Martha - SHE SPEAKS GERMAN. SHE GETS COOLER EVERY DAY. And further reinforcement for why is she is the BEST EVER. Her last scene with Jack was definitely implying she might join Torchwood. Oh please oh please oh please make it happen!

Jack - I adore Jack. Loved his filthy thoughts in regard to there being three Doctors, and then making Mickey uncomfortable with his "beefcake" comment XD And he's so sweet. I just went "aww" when he kissed Ianto and Gwen early on. Aww.

Gwen - I hated her so much in S1 of Torchwood, but she's getting progressively more likeable. Loved her machine gun moment: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH."

Ianto - I love his wildly inappropriate sense of humor. "Ianto. There's a time and a place!" And his constant jealous!face at the Doctor or mention of the Doctor. Also made a comment that settled my question in regards to him, Jack, and monogamy - Ianto expects it.

It played out almost like a series finale, since a lot of loose ends were tied up. But, again, cracked-out show. Anything can happen. I think I'm officially a Doctor Who fan, because I desperately need this on DVD. Even if they are expensive.

Torchwood front: Jack, Gwen, and Ianto act like a family. It's...sweet. They have an interesting dynamic that Owen and Toshiko just weren't fitting into, so I'm glad they're gone. (Says the one who cried when they died...) I'm not worried about Martha fitting in if she does join the show; she had a lot of screen time with those three in her S2 appearance. Don't know about Mickey, though. (And can't say I really care.)

...I want S3 now D:

Coherency is also good.
Martha's strong as ever and once again her bravery and independence are on display. She travels using the untested Project Indigo, figures out how to work it (with Jack's help), stands up to a woman pointing a gun at her, reluctantly takes the Osterhagen Key, but gives the Daleks a chance to back down before blowing up the planet as a last resort. And she got promoted. (But, wait - she's in New York, Tom's still in Africa? How often do they get to see each other? Hmm...fic waiting to happen there.) And Jack starting offering her a job at Torchwood. Again. They're so cute together. (I am confuzzled by fans insisting there's some special connection between Jack and Rose. He seems closer to Martha than he ever was to Rose...maybe that's what THE END OF THE WORLD does to people.)

And Rose was jealous of her. Oh, the irony. Rose just emphasized Martha's awesome - she's still desperately clinging to the Doctor after all this time. That's...pretty pathetic. What if she hadn't gotten the Ten-clone, would she just continue to keep her life on hold? Martha moved on. Mickey moved on. Jack moved on. So everyone except Rose moved the fuck on with their lives? (Rose and Ten-clone could easily crash and burn. I know she said it wasn't about the traveling, and probably actually believed that...but I think she'll be underwhelmed by a normal-ish, human Doctor.)

See, I have to start writing Doctor Who/Torchwood fic now. What if Martha runs into Donna and accidentally triggers her death? Martha and Mickey's adventures at Torchwood - or rather, how Torchwood corrupts them and makes them bisexual. And I've been too afraid to shift through all the crap that is Jack/Ianto fic, but I'd love to write about them pre-"Cyberwoman," especially with what we know from S2. So warped.
