First: Fox, you are a bunch of fuck-ups. You probably killed the show by deciding not to air the last episode, which is fine, but you let it just slip out and now everyone's assuming it's dead. Yeah, that's going to help ratings. Dumbasses.
Anyway.
I just have to say what I love about Dollhouse, is that these episodes are playing like the show's been on for seasons...though, clearly, it hasn't been ;) Lots of satisfaction, lots going on. (And there may be something wrong with me, but dom!Echo is hands-down the best imprint. Ever.)
I need to rewatch. But then again, I always do that with this show.
So. I guessed Ivy as the mole, though I doubted that - this is Joss, he's going to make it someone completely unlikely. Like Dominic. Especially since early in the episode, when Topher's talking to Boyd, they look at Dr. Saunders and Ivy, and right then, I knew it was neither of them.
You know, once I stopped going "OMG! It's Kellerman!" and got over Dominic's whole general dickishness, I was getting into his character. Especially his scenes with DeWitt. So, yeah, the whole Attic-ing him thing was pretty shocking and horrifying =(
I irrationally love DeWitt, Dr. Saunders, and Ivy, so I was glad to see them all getting some screentime. It never occurred to me DeWitt could be Miss Lonely Hearts...but now it all makes sense. Imprinted 10 times, against Dr. Saunders' suggestion. And then betrayed by Dominic (I'll admit it, my shippy sense was starting to tingle with them). And a friend of hers dies next week? Poor woman...you know, ignoring all the bad icky stuff she does. But still. I love her. She's ridiculously badass - the fencing scene, getting stitches with no anesthetic, the way she disposes of people - but it's obviously a put-on, a wall, and it's definitely getting to her. She's fascinating.
As is Dr. Saunders. I freakin' love how Amy Acker's playing her. DeWitt completely believes in the system, while Dr. Saunders doesn't seen it as perfect, but still wants to work within it. And sometimes she seems very sweet, and other times pragmatic and creepy. She is awesome. I hope we learn more about her before the end of the season (seriously, she lives at the Dollhouse? Weird!)
As I said, I irrationally love Ivy. Maybe it's because I like girl geeks (hey, Willow was easily my fav of the three in Buffy), but I just like her. A lot. I love that she's as unashamedly confident in her abilities and intelligence as Topher is about his. And I love their scenes together. (And...did Topher actually look worried for a minute when Dominic was ready to toss Ivy into the Attic? He's not a complete douche, after all! I say that as someone without any Topher!hate. But he is a douche.) She's definitely a character that would wind up with a larger role in future seasons, 'cause that's how Joss rolls.
Oh, and how crazed did Ballard come off this week? I know, the Dollhouse is bad and needs to be taken down, but seriously...pointing a gun at Mellie? And the wall of Dollhouse!obsessing? And dumping on Mellie when she had just gotten back? Dude. I'm like, "You're our 'good guy'....?" But of course, things got jumbled up when he finds out Mellie's a doll and I felt bad for him. (And, as always, for Mellie, and whoever November used to be.) This is going to be interesting...
As always, I love me some Boyd and Echo. Boyd really doesn't care that he's obviously "too attached" to Echo. I mean, his smile when he told DeWitt that he would prefer to take care of Echo than be head of security? Awwwwww. Yeah, and seeing Echo getting a new handler and having Boyd watch was heartbreaking. 'Course, we all know Boyd isn't going to stop watching out for her...
I wonder if the show will ever explain why dolls apparently have handlers of the opposite sex. It just seems...like a bad idea all around.
Yeah, this show made me fall in love with three actors at once - Enver Gjokaj, Miracle Laurie, and Dichen Lachmen. I love them. I smile every time they're on screen, and they rock all their scenes =)
Damnit, though. Two weeks until the next episode. Grr.
