I'm still not used to saying "Season 2" of Dollhouse :D
I didn't watch ANY spoiler clips before this one aired, after Fox burned me last week. So I'm not sure if the element of surprise had anything to do with it, or if this episode was just better than the premier. BUT IT WAS AWESOME.
One thing I'm liking about how they're handling the engagements this year, is that they're always SO BIZZARRE, that part of the story is trying to figure out why Echo's been imprinted to be a newlywed, a mother, or whatever. It was easy to put together Echo was the guy's deceased wife, and the baby was theirs...it was just the WHY. And it was so sad. (Unlike the "Bouncy the Rat" guy, I was able to get over the creepy factor of this engagement and felt mostly sad for the guy.)
...now I'm wondering about Sierra's role as the friend. Did the guy ask for that, too? Because I'm thinking that's one of those things where I just have to suspend my disbelief.
And MADELEINE! I can't express how excited I am to see her. (And on the shallow front: glad she was dressed--and walked--in a sexy way. The frumpy floral pattern dresses last season had me going "SERIOUSLY?") I love the character, too, which is a relief. She wasn't very trusting of DeWitt, smart woman. I do think something's probably wrong with her. After all, she was brought back in the same episode where Echo's mother instinct perseveres--and Madeleine's backstory is that she lost her daughter, which was revealed last season, but now she's "not sad" anymore? Uh-huh.
I never got people who said they liked Echo, but not Caroline. I didn't feel strongly about either one. (Unless you're talking future!Caroline, who I like well enough.) Echo's speech at the end of this episode is the first time I can say I actively LIKE Echo. Like she said, before, she felt nothing and was just asleep.
God damn, I love this show ;_;
EDIT: LOL, I hate Whedonites. Seriously, getting annoyed at the convenient thunder storm? SERIOUSLY? For one, I was too engaged in the story for it to register beyond "oh, horror flick set-up" in general. Which was obviously intentional.
And "too much engagement"? SERIOUSLY? But I already found out those types just want the entire show to be everyone in the Dollhouse standing around, talking philosophy and never actually doing anything.
So glad this is JOSS and ELIZA's shows and not theirs.
