You know what, this sums up my feelings exactly. Exactly.
House-Wilson-Amber
Dear sweet god. This storyline is probably the best this show has seen. I was glad to see Wilson and Amber interact one-on-one (and: SEXY SCENE!), and that Amber is behaving the way I've predicted from the beginning: she's the cut-throat bitch, yes, but that doesn't mean she aims the bitchiness at the object of her affection - she's going to aim it at the competition (House). But with Wilson, she's all glowy and in love and waiting to get heartbroken. PTB, don't fuck this up and take the easy way out by making Amber one-dimensional or die like some fans want her to.
And she calls Wilson on his shit (like House does). The similarities between Amber and House were almost creepy in this episode - I could practically put House in Amber's place and the scenes would be perfectly in character. The difference being that House normally tries to put space between himself and Wilson (changing this season, though), while Amber is actively trying to get closer to him, and lays everything out without playing games. This makes me a bit hopeful that when the break-up comes, it'll be mutual, and Wilson and Amber will have learned a lot about themselves from each other (because that's the only ending that won't make me sad).
Meanwhile, House is shooting puppy eyes at Wilson and saying lines tragically, like, "I'm ignoring you, because you make me sad." Keep it up, HL! Every episode, they're going to remind us Thirteen is bi and that House is totally in love with Wilson =)
The mattress shopping became eerily metaphorical. Wilson gets the mattress Amber wants, then goes back to the store to get the one he thinks he wants, only to find out he doesn't like it. So, Wilson getting involved with women he think he should (to be "in the circle," as House put it), then he gets involved with one he thinks he wants, only to...? Oh my. He's going to break Amber's heart, isn't he?
There's an issue I think Wilson and Amber are still going to need to deal with, when it finally comes up. It's not so much House demands so much of Wilson's time, but that Wilson invests a lot of emotional energy into House. Like, the amounts he should be putting into an SO. That's one of the biggest reasons I ship them - there's just no space for anyone else to come between them. Amber is very aware of her relationship with Wilson as well as his with House, and I think she'll pick up on this. I'm hoping this comes up in the finale, somehow.
STOP PANICKING. One, DS didn't H/W isn't going to happen; he said he doesn't think it will. And he's a liar. Second, Wilson can't possibly end up happy with Amber - no one on this show is allowed to be happy before the end. (Seriously, think about it.) Man, I so called it that this fandom would bitch to no end about that.
Spoilers: People panicking - calm the hell down. House/Cuddy is coming whether you like it or not (and it's not going to last anyway), so they have to set up for it. Get Wilson away from House, make House lonely, make House's sexing of Cuddy all about Wilson. Right now, I'll be surprised if Amber doesn't show up in S5 (and get ditched on the road trip episode). Also, I won't be surprised if Wilson's screentime is lessened a bit next season. But only temporarily.
House-Cameron
Loved it. Way back in S3, in "The Jerk," I believed Cameron when she was over House. But then when she flipped out in "Ugly," I was back to disbelieving her (ugh). Still not sure, but I still give her points for telling House she misses the department and not him.
I think it's interesting that House really seems to miss her now. Honestly, I think he was only partially joking about firing Thirteen to get Cameron back. Hey, in general, it's interesting that House seems to be longing after the other characters now - Wilson, Cameron, Chase, even starting to with Cuddy. It's a real reversal of the past seasons. I hope this plays out in the finale somehow.
House-Cuddy
I'm not going to say Cuddy is awesome again, but this episode had the kind of Cuddy-House interactions I was in love with at the beginning. Sexy banter, yes. But also Cuddy's constant, no-answer-is-right conflict between covering the hospital's ass - which is her job - and also sincerely believing in House's abilities, and deciding which is the more worthwhile gamble. I hope that plays out in S5.
Attack of the Mini-Wilsons
Chase has Wilson moments with House and even went bowling with him. Cameron feeds House. Cuddy gets a "good night" exchange. I wasn't reading into it much before, but now it seems very intentional on the writers' part. Not sure what it's supposed to mean. (Maybe it ties into House connecting with others - what better way to show it than giving them an aspect of his relationship with Wilson?)
Season 4
I still love it. It gets extra points because it's making me care more about the other characters, even though I see less of them.
Comments
She...she might even get her spine back! I hope the House/Cuddy stuff parallels the Amber/Wilson stuff, with Cuddy and Wilson emerging from these relationships learning a lot and improving themselves.
