Um, I love these kinds of episodes (see: "No Reason" on House).
Rory and the Doctor were kind of similar; Rory had his ponytail, and the Doctor has his bow tie, but no one except them thinks these things are cool. (Although since the Dream Lord was just the Doctor's deep dark thoughts, then the Doctor deep-down doesn't really think his bow tie is cool...)
Speaking of the Dream Lord. Let's look at everything he said:
- taunts the Doctor, his bow tie, hair, "tawdry quirks," damn.
- calls Rory delusional
- he's seen Amy's dreams (twice!) and they make him blush!
- is all about trying to make Amy choose between Rory and the Doctor
- "Loves a redhead, our naughty Doctor." (The Doctor/Amy and Doctor/Donna shipper in me is wildly amused.) AND HE SAID IT TO AMY'S FACE LIKE A PERV.
- "You big flop-haired wuss."
- arranges to talk just to Amy to force a choice
- "Maybe I'll keep her." Creepy.
- "We're going to have fun, aren't we?" Creepier.
- "Spooky old, not-to-be-trusted me." *creeper outfit* "Anything could happen." CREEPIEST.
- "That's who you think you are? The one the Doctor trusts...then what's his name?"
- "You're the one they're waiting for. Amy's men, Amy's choice." (Heehee, "Amy's men.")
- "Friends? Is that the right word for the people you acquire?"
- And of course, the Doctor to the Dream Lord: "Only one person in the universe hates me as much as you do."
- Oh and this: "He always leaves you, doesn't he? Never apologizes."
"He doesn't have to."
"Good. Because he never will."
...wow, Doctor, your head is screwed up. And pervy.
No, seriously, what was with the free-flowing perversion?
I love the moment Amy says, "I choose you, stupid!" to Rory without even turning around. LOL, she just knew he was thinking it.
Also have to note that the Doctor sure seems to like touching Rory almost as much as he likes touching Amy.
And this:
"Are we disagreeing or competing?"
"Competing over what?" They both look at Amy. She looks disgusted, lol. (Did you not hear her? You are BOTH her boys.)
AND THIS:
"I can't feel my feet...or other parts."
"My other parts are working fine."
"Stop competing!"
Interestingly, the episode/the Dream Lord/the Doctor initially sets up the whole "choose between worlds" scenario as having Amy choose between the Doctor and Rory. When Rory gets offed, that ensures Amy picks the other world...but in picking the other world, Amy is picking a scenario where she has BOTH the Doctor and Rory. The two dreams were pretty much "just Rory" vs "Rory and the Doctor." (Yes, those polyshipping glasses on tight, hello.)
The Doctor explains with ease that the
And finally:
"Anywhere's good for me."
Indeed, Rory.
