Weirdly my favorite moment from last night's episode was when Sam admitted she loaned Lizzy money, like it was nothing, after spending the episode hiding it from Steven, because god damn, there's something way more important we need to talk about. (Because, really, all that would have happened was that Steven would be all "LOL I TOLD YOU I AM THE HUMAN LIE DETECTOR," and that's not exactly a tragedy that needs to be avoided at all costs.)
I'm just so used to couples be so immature on TV. On most shows, the loan to Lizzy would be dragged out for several episodes as OMG SUCH A TERRIBLE SECRET and then when it's revealed, the couple would COMPLETELY FREAK OUT. There would be shaking and crying and OMG I FEEL SO BETRAYED and then talk about divorce. (And then the wife would get preggers and they stay together.) And the entire time I would bash my head against the wall, screaming, YOU HAVE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES TO WORRY ABOUT YOU ARE SPIES WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Ahem.
Yeah, so I love Sam and Steven because they're silly without being immature. And their relationship is interesting, contrary to the belief that only UST sells, without seriously threatening to break them up. (Random aside: I got dragged to a screening of Going the Distance. I went in assuming it was just another romance chick flick type thing, but came out pleasantly surprised it was about a relationship and not UST, and that the couple had a mature reaction to a disagreement that would get blown up into ZOMG DRAMA in other movies. THIS SHOULD NOT SURPRISE ME.)
I love the dynamic of the whole team, with Hoyt as Steven's personal fanboy, and Leo as Sam's. Sam and Steven are Team Awesome, and Hoyt and Leo are the goofy sidekicks. Hoyt is the butt of jokes, but he's competent at his job, while Leo thinks he's so awesome, but can be so very useless and thinks with his dick. (Okay, other favorite scene: Sam, Steven, and Hoyt all ganging up on Leo. "Oh my god, you slept with her!" "Are we done talking about Agent Nash's sex life?")
Alright, going to spam Tumblr with screencaps now.
