I reeeally don't see what was so sweet about Owen's dialog in this episode about how Cristina would hate being chief resident. It was particularly jarring considering this episode was all about adapting, and I was hoping it was intentional...and then Cristina kisses him and everything's okay?
Yeah, Cristina would very likely hate being chief resident. She could also expand and grow as a person. She might not earn the job at all. But we'll never know, because she was sabotaged by her husband. Sorry, Owen, when you were asked to pick chief resident, the only correct response was, "Nope, can't do it, I'm married to a resident." (Also, if he ~cares so much~ about her being a great surgeon, why isn't he trying to get Teddy to, you know, get back to teaching Cristina?
I just have alarm bells going off. He married an ambitious woman who explicitly said she didn't want kids, and now he's manipulating her career and trying to persuade her to change her mind (oh, sorry, ~talk about~) about kids. It's creepy. I don't know where the show's going with this (especially with the bizzarre "I'm the man" thing with Bailey and Eli that went unchallenged). But then, that's how I felt with Cristina and Burke, too, so I'll have to wait and see...
I remember reading a quote from Shonda Rhimes about the finale that said she would be breaking some promises, and I'm hoping that's about Cristina/Owen being in it for the long haul. I just can't imagine how knocking up Cristina is going to result in anything else but them breaking up. (And Cristina can't have a baby. There's already two on the show, and after Arizona changed mind about kids, that would create Unfortunate Implications liek whoa. But even GA wusses out a bit when it comes to abortion...sigh.)
So many FEELINGS.
