- Don't assume slashy things about spoilers. (You know what I mean.)
- Don't expect No Reason ever to be topped by anything. (At least until something does.)
This isn't totally coherent, because I need to go to sleep.
This season has been dramatic enough (and I am again one of the freaks who liked this season), we don't need a finale that's trying too hard to do better than the last two. This one fit nicely into the themes set up in No Reason and the writers keep talking about. (OMG integrity in television writing!?) - House and change, and his relationships (of all kinds).
In season one (Detox), Wilson notes House has changed - immediately calling bullshit on this "people don't change" and "House isn't going" crap; if he can change for the worse, he can change for the better. Wilson also says House doesn't have any relationships, and House claims he doesn't want any.
In season two, House expends tons of energy trying to win Stacy back, but turns her away because he can't (won't) change so that he can make her happy (as in, not ignoring her, being insensitive, or generally driving her insane). Then he gets shot and hallucinates, giving us a look into his mind, and House does want to change, despite what he says.
So this season started with House trying to change, but it all goes to crap; I think what happened is that he went about it the wrong way, trying to make external fixes (just actions and, more literally, his leg) rather than internal ones (like, oh, facing *gasp* emotions). That's also what I think Words and Deeds was getting at with "starting over" - instead of having someone force change on House, he gets a chance to try again on his own, which is more sincere and meaningful. And that's what I think was happening in the finale - granted, House is never going to be a giant stuffed teddy bear, because he never was one.
On the relationships front, House definitely realized how important Wilson is if he didn't already. Yeah, he's still not great at showing it, but the fact is he's making some efforts, which is a huge deal - and Wilson knows it (that's why Wilson accepted House's apology in Family so easily).
HoYay Note: The last House and Wilson scene - pay attention to the fact the camera was oddly focused on Wilson. This always means something: think back to Half-Wit when the camera pans down to Cuddy's ass, which House ends up grabbing a few minutes later. Wilson looked like he was about to say something to House as he left, then stopped. Huh?
Season 4: Cameron and Foreman are coming back, calm the F down. Chase is more than likely returning, too. There. The next season is supposedly going to have House/Cuddy, but then again, plans change. I liked House/Cuddy, although now I only like them in a fun way, because Cuddy getting involved with House now is character assassination, unless the writing's very good. And Wilson really ought to come out of the closet; I came into this show thinking he was a totally heterosexual whore and came out of this season sure he's not into women at all. It's the show's fault.
Season 3 DVD Bonus Wish: I want "musical versions" - like they did the valley girl versions, but with musical numbers instead! I would...just die. DIE. Of joy.

...where are you getting this from? Are you just saying on the whole, this season? Or this episode? I wish I could see it.
Mostly I just agree about them making Wilson really gay this season, which is more than fine by me. It's just odd to rewatch S1 and see Wilson schooling House on "panty-peeling".
In general, this season - he apologizes unprompted, takes in Wilson's dog (yeah, he tries to kill it, but Wilson doesn't even care), shows interest in Wilson's depression, and he always has and continues to take Wilson's advice...nothing grand or blatantly obvious, because House can't/won't do grand. Not yet.
(But then again, I also believe that House's "pushing" is his way of keeping others from going down with him, because he really doesn't have a great sense of self-worth. So I might be odd.)

Or talking about breasts. My mind kind of implodes when I rewatch those scenes.
I like your theory about House's pushing. Veeeery intriguing.
That is strange - but because of thing like that in past seasons, I can't quite see Wilson as being completely gay - even though he kinda acts like it this season. Unlike the writers, I DO have some sense of continuation - drooling over that
hookermasseuse did not seem staged to em - though I also think he enjoyed the sight of House gasping in that scene. He's always seemed more gay than bisexual though - In that his personality is gay too - and not just this sexual preferences. You know how sometimes in the slash world one find characters that are straight, but like men/a man? Well, he comes off to me as gay, but likes women. (and men too)
Maybe he is just so in denial, he's convinced himself that he likes women.
...maybe. But I always thought those types spent the whole first half thinking that attraction in general was more made out to be than it actually was and not really getting what the fuss was about, but going along with it anyway, thinking that everybody feels the same way.
Maybe since his third marriage ended he's been re-evaluating, and although he loves women, he realizes he loves to love them more than he loves them individually and that the only people he's ever loved because of who they WERE...is House? and other men?
Je ne sais pas but I think I hit on a plotbunny!
TPTB have left Wilson in the hotel for over a year; his soul-searching has to be coming to a close. I really want to see what he'll be up to next season.
(Reason 258247 I liked the finale: Didn't screw up the uber-long fic I'm working on! =D)
...And blow-dry his hair.
*snicker*
Latent Gay.
Someone who is transparently gay but believes himself to be straight. Spends all of his time shopping and drinking coffee with straight women who see him as a friend. Wears lots of salmon pink clothes. Inspite of being gay, talks constantly about which woman he'd like to fuck.
'Have you seen the tits on (generic female name) - she's a shag. BTW I'm going shopping'
'Hey, we could go to the bar, but I fancy a nice hot black coffee inside me''
and Wilson always starts out being FRIENDS with the women he marries - and then he just doesn't do anything when they jump him, cuz hes got issues. Ones that have more to do with need vampirism than sexuality.
