320 - Housetraining

Okay, maybe I'm obsessing, but Doris Egan is probably the best writer on House. She knows how to poke the characters - make them uncomfortable, make the audience uncomfortable, and, of course, she writes great House and Wilson scenes.

Wow, this show really has a thing about the characters being alone. Foreman never goes home, his mom doesn't remember him half the time, and he's incapable of having a relationship. Chase's parents are both dead. Wilson lives in a freakin' hotel. House thinks love is always conditional. Cuddy can't get a real date and can't even get knocked up. Cameron I only assume is alone, too. Depressing!

So Wilson starts his (crash and burn) relationships with women by being friendly. This has been my theory for a while. I call it the Gay Best Friend Hypothesis - whenever Wilson's talking to a woman, he never looks flirty. More like, hm, a gay best friend (remember the crying nurse?) and he means it, but the ladies fall for it and jump him. Wilson has no backbone, marries them, and ditches them for House. Rinse and repeat.

Wilson/Cuddy is not going to happen, even though I was already sure. Wilson managed to avoid getting involved with anyone in the past year. Cuddy should have the sense not to get involved with him (if she's anything like the Cuddy I love/d), and House is definitely not going to let that happen.

Bonnie sounded like she was describing House and Wilson's relationship. The only difference is that Wilson ditches women to be with House =)

Is this like the first time Wilson and Foreman had a scene together? It was great. I love the mommy!Wilson and daddy!House dynamic that's developed this season.

Chase practically came onto Foreman. Huh. I thought he was about to suggest to Foreman that he open up to him (and then bug him every Tuesday). I was hoping they'd bond, considering Chase also killed a patient over a stupid (possibly dumber) mistake. Oh well.

Doris Egan really is the best at writing House and Wilson. I felt LOVE dripping from the screen (the coffee made me think of House getting Stacy coffee). And poor Wilson is still trying to take House on a date. Aww. Well, this added fuel to the fic I was already working on.

Top 10 episode.

meta, not fic, alas, but it's kickass
ITA about Bonnie describing H/W's relationship. GOD, it was so intentional, too. PRAISE DORIS!

Hahah! Right on with the parenting of the ducklings by H/W. Hadn't thought of that. Cool analysis.

Chase and Foreman, it's growing on me!

TOTALLY. TOTALLY about Wilson taking House on a date.

Can't fcking wait for the fic.

Top 3 episode for me.

Re: meta, not fic, alas, but it's kickass
Sorry for misleading you XD

I just counted - it's been 4 times since Insensitive that Wilson tried to get a date with House (Valentine's day breakfast, pizza with a friend, the play, now food again). That's...um, a lot.

...I literally have a top 10 list (sad, I know). And Housetraining is officially in my top 3 as well.

oh alas!
Oh, please do tell!

My top three are probably
"House vs. God","All In", and this one. I don't know exactly where each falls but this might be my new favorite episode of all.

Re: oh alas!
Geekiness is my life, lady. No worries!

I liked the Pilot too, and Finding Judas, sure. I agree with lots of these. Thanks for sharing!

Just to chime in - "Histories", back in season 1, was kinda Wilson/Foreman-centric, with them both having issues of the homeless PoTW. (Wilson even helps Foreman in the end try to find PoTW's son.) I'd re-watched it recently (yay, DVDs!), and I was thinking it'd be awesome to show more Wilson/Foreman interaction. (Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until USA re-runs the ep, because my Tivo cut off the last ten minutes. :( )

I dunno, I have a bit more sympathy for Chase's screw-up.

Oh, I have plenty of sympathy for Chase's screw-up. I meant his was possibly dumber (sadder?) in the sense that the patient died because he didn't ask a question, whereas Foreman's (and House's) was "just" a missed diagnosis.

You're so right about House/Wilson/Cuddy.

And, uh, obviously Doris is a genius.

It shouldn't have to be said, but I will again anyway.

DORIS EGAN ROCKS. IF I HAD A CHOICE, SHE'D WRITE 50-100% OF THE SHOW.
