SEASON 5 BITCHES!!!1!

ranrata: (house-housewilson)
I think it was the most significant season opener since the Pilot. ("Alone" was the most hysterical, though XD)

The H/W
I love that right after the credits roll, the show jumps right into the House/Wilson.

This is the second or third time House and Wilson have had a spat in front of the Newbies. They didn't do that in front of the old team, did they? It was very awkward, nonetheless.

I already know some people are bitching about House's behavior, but it's a well-established pattern that Wilson is the one thing that will guarantee House will get distracted on a case. (Even dumb stuff like...pancakes and Wendy.)

During the scene where Cuddy is telling House to tell Wilson he's sorry, etc, they started playing the really sad music from the bus crash scene in "House's Head." JUST THE MUSIC MADE ME SAD D:

House ditching the patient? Was cold.

"...if you tell Wilson how you feel - about him...if you let yourself feel vulnerable..." Just quoted for truth.

Greatly enjoyed Wilson calling Cuddy her B.S. Had to be done.

I was actually surprised how quickly House wore down, and switched tactics from "be a belligerent asshole" to "bare my heart and soul." This show is very good at true tragedy. Whenever House decides to be vulnerable for a moment, he gets shot down - and it's his own fault each time, really. Yet you can't help but feel for him. Self-perpetuating cycle and all.

This episode was pulling at my heart-strings. (Didn't help I rewatched the finale beforehand.) House looks lost, looks wistful, bares his soul. It was so weird to see House like that for so long. And Wilson is so lost, too, and - god, when he almost started crying again, and started saying he should have been on the bus. Damn. This show would be nothing without Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard, I really do think that.

And how in love does Wilson sound when he says, "I don't blame you. I wanted to. I tried to"?

The PotW's story very obviously is supposed to parallel Wilson. She goes back to her old boss, even though she knows things won't change (and kind of doesn't want her to), but, in a way, feels important because of her role. That's what I pretty much expect for the resolution of this arc; House and Wilson will have a better understanding of their relationship, but it'll still be warped. (Because why else would I be watching them?)

Oh, and the Thirteen/PotW scene where Thirteen says they can do anything, and the PotW is like "...no," it made me think: YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT.

And I think the House/Wilson love story (YES I AM SAYING IT WITHOUT QUALIFICATIONS) is the ultimate "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need."

Everything Else
Chase - I love cocky Chase. He is the true House Jr. "Then you're talking about another surgeon, because I didn't miss anything."

Cameron - "I am not your errand girl." Continuing the S4 trend, I still think Cameron > Cuddy. She's still acting like House's annoyed older sister, and she's actually acting like a friend towards Wilson. Their scene was sweet. Made me miss my Wilson/Cameron days ;_;

Thirteen - "I have Huntington's. Wanna fuck?" Seriously, wasn't Thirteen supposed to do this patient? Or is that a different one? Not that I care who she does, long as she spreads the gay to House. Still neutral to her.

Taub - Just awesome. I love him so much. Foreman wishes he were Taub.

Kutner - Still in my Fave Five :D "How recently were you...needy?"

Foreman and Cuddy - No comment.

Spoilers/Speculation

You know, when talk about S5 began, TPTB said it starts with a ten-episode arc. Okay, House and Wilson make up a few episodes in. There's House/Cuddy action, Thirteen stuff, and Chase/Cameron development. There's a devious plan that House has that gets Wilson to love him again.

Then Olivia Wilde had that quote about House not getting bisexuality or whatever, and I'm hoping she said that because of something in a future episode. Because then that confirms Thirteen is going to help gay up House.

Yeah, so, my slasher mind is like...what if the big twist isn't the devious plan, but something that happens afterwards?

I love your review. Just excellent. As for spoilers/specs - I think the 10 episode arc is House/Wilson based on the very, very early spoilers. I think 13's disease and sexuality is supposed to parallel House's discovery about he handles his disability and how he does or does not confront the complex feelings he has for Wilson. Again I am going back to an earlier spoiler where DS said he wanted to explore House's comment to Wilson "you're sleeping with me".

That would be UTTERLY brilliant. I love the way your mind works. <3

You're wonderful. You say it so much better than I could. I totally agree with everything. I'm not mad at either House or Wilson, it's wonderful to see them in a situation (in a painful way) that doesn't make me want to choose sides.

I loved Foreman and Cameron trying to be friends to Wilson. I thought that was sweet.

POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW--YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

13 screws a different patient, by my own speculation, (if I've got the spoiler timeline figured out right) it should be episode five.

Interesting analysis. (And by interesting, I mean totally awesome.) I agree about the PotW's relationship with her boss paralleling Wilson's relationship with House. I was surprised that no one else pointed it out; but then again it's only been a few hours.

I liked Cameron in this episode, and like you, thought that the scene she had with Wilson was very sweet. Which is a first because Cameron generally irritates me. I'm still on the fence in regards to Thirteen, but the way her Huntington's disease kept being brought up annoyed me. I thought that she was going to sleep with the patient as well to tell the truth.

I'm really looking forward to the next nine or so episodes. Even if the angst might kill me.

Great point about the PotW paralleling Wilson's relationship to House-- I didn't catch that. And you're so right about the way RSL played those lines...He sounded SO tormented. Lovelorn, heartbroken, lost. It was gorgeous.

For the record, I do think it's a future patient that Thirteen gets intimate with...

Re: the POTW storyline, and whether it mirrors H/W, not sure if I agree. Is Wilson really just House's "flunky"? Surely he is more House's equal than that. If you mean from a "you can't always get what you want" angle, then maybe....cheers
