Yeah, didn't do the last episode. In fact, I wasn't even planning on doing another one. But this episode was amazing (and RSL looked hot).

EDIT: I just noticed this - the only time House looks at Wilson during that scene is when he says, "I love you." And Wilson is no longer able to look at House after the "I love you," except for one, very quick glance.

I agree with anonymous up above me: Wilson looks like he's looking at House, not actually at Cuddy, as she walks away. But really I think the scene is MEANT for Wilson to be looking wistfully at Cuddy's ass, so I won't make too much of it.

"Just looking at you hurts" is so incredibly painful and somehow lovely at the same time. It's so powerful. Intimate and honest. Wilson's voice is perfect. House's "I love you" is just icing on the cake, what pushes the scene beyond Eternal Awesomeness.

I totally, totally, 100% agree that there is absolutely no sarcasm or humor in House's declaration of love. He's dead serious. The voice, the tone, the expression on his face. All of it. He's entirely sincere. There is not one trace of a joke in it. I actually think it's stretching things to say he's joking when he says it, like willful blindness. Not to say House is suddenly hankering for hot gay sex with Wilson. It can be platonic love. All that matters is that he means it.

I skimmed Three Stories last night, and found so many parallels between that episode and 97 Seconds (especially in "that scene"). It had to be done on purpose! That further convinces me that scene was supposed to be totally serious.

It can be platonic love.
It makes me laugh when people try so hard to deny it for that exact reason.

I'm pleased with both the idea of H and W being Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid OR Mulder and Scully OR Heathcliff and Cathy. I'm not sure where exactly TPTB are going, if they're slowly slowly slowly going towards a romantic, sexual love, or if they're just going to make sure the audience knows that Wilson is House's most important person in the world, his Hetero Lifemate.

Either way, I just want House to acknowledge that he LOVES Wilson, without hiding behind the smokescreen of humor. The fact that a lot of people are insisting that the ILU is a reaction to W's promise of pain meds and nothing more, not a true declaration of love, annoys me to no end. It reeks of not boldness, but desperation. Thus end my Really Deep Thoughts.

Oh, actually, it could be that the writers/PTB were indeed going for humor with the "I Love You," but if that's true, then HL decided to play the line straight, completely serious. So either way, House was serious when he said it, whether or not it was supposed to play that way. But if TPTB were going for a joke, and HL chose to play it serious, then OMG HL is even more awesome than he was before, if that's even possible. Yay for Team H/W!

Actually, if TPTB intended the scene to be humorous, they screwed up in all departments. Like, very badly. HL delivered it seriously, the music playing in the background is serious and hits the climax right after he says "I love you," and the entire episode just reeks of parallels to "Three Stories."

I do think they chose ambiguous timing. But all other things point to "he meant it." (Reminds me of his apology to Wilson in "Words and Deeds." Same kind of things.)
